The children have thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Arts Week.  This is something we do every year to give the children the chance to develop their creative and artistic skills and the opportunity to work with local artists.  Some of the pieces were inspired by the WW1 Centenary and will be displayed in St Godwald’s Church on Remembrance Sunday.  I have put together a short video of some of the activities I saw going on as I walked around school.

Activities included:

  • Year R and Year 4 will be working with a local artist, who specialises in working with clay
  • Year 2 will be working with another local artist, creating an individual piece of silk work based on Japanese Blossom Images
  • Year 3 will be working with a local artist, creating individual wet felt work based on Roald Dahl’s characters, including “The Twits and “Willy Wonka”
  • Years 1 - 4 will be taking part in an African drumming workshop
  • All of the children will be experiencing some sessions of Yoga
